We try to keep this website updated and relevant throughout the entire year. Check back here often for information about soccer-related events throughout the Skagit Valley. We will try to post information about coach clinics and referee training as well. If you have soccer information to pass on, it can be sent to: webmaster@mvysa.org

January BDC meeting has been changed
Due to impending bad weather, the regularly scheduled BDC meeting for 16 January has been postponed. The updated meeting schedule will be posted to the 'Events' page.
2012 Board of Directors and Coordinators Selected
At our regular meeting, held on 21 November 2011, MVYSA held elections for officers and coordinators for the 2012 soccer season. The new Board Member list can be found on the 'contacts' page.
Board members are still needed for 2012!
Although we were successful in getting some new volunteers to step forward and help us out this upcoming year, several BDC positions remain unfilled. Hopefully, we can get a few more volunteers to help out. If you are interested in any of the vacant positions, just come to our next regular meeting. The schedule is posted to the 'events' page (no meeting in December). If you have questions about this, contact Chad Burton at: president@mvysa.org
Are you interested in becoming a referee?
There is an Entry Level Clinic for new referees coming up. The 3-day clinic will be held on March 23 (6pm to 8:30pm), 24 (9am to 4pm), and 25 (9am to 1pm). The clinic will be held at the Burlington Senior Center. You must attend all classes and pass a written exam to become a referee. It is preferred that kids be at least 12 years old when attending the clinic (We can always use more adult referees too!).

If you have questions or need further help, please contact Brandon Harms at "AIC@skagitrefs.org"
Our home fields
Maps to our home field (as well as many others in the area) can be found on the "fields" page.
Lost and Found
We have several lost items that have been found at our fields this season. If you have lost / left things at the fields, please contact our equipment coordinator at : equipment@mvysa.org
Any found clothing items that are not claimed by December 31st, 2011 may be donated to charity.
Indoor Soccer Opportunities
The Skagit Valley YMCA operates an indoor soccer arena located at Bakerview Park, in Mt. Vernon. They offer several sessions throughout the year. If you are interested in playing more soccer, or want to register an entire team, please visit their website by clicking here.
If you need more information, please contact Erin McMillan: e.mcmillan@skagitymca.org
About our season:
Our season begins with player registrations. Regular registration typically begins in mid-April, and continues through mid-June each year. We do accept late registrations through August, if roster space permits. Please review our operating polices (see the "By-Laws & Policies" page) for details about this.
Team rosters are distributed to the coaches during early August. You should be contacted by your assigned coach around the 15th of August. The practice schedule and start date are determined by each individual coach. Most coaches will have 2 practices per week. Most practices will last 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours (this varies by age).
(If you are concerned about practice schedule conflicts, a great way to avoid this is to volunteer to be a coach!! See the "contacts" page and contact the Coaching Coordinator).
The games are held on Saturdays. We usually kick off the season with a MVYSA Jamboree on the Saturday before Labor Day. The regular season will begin on the first Saturday after Labor Day. For U-10 and younger, the season will usually end the last Saturday in October. For U-11 and older, the season will usually end the following week with the Skagit Valley Youth Soccer Association championship tournament (usually the first weekend of November).
Equipment Exchange: MVYSA will be holding an "equipment exchange" at the in-person registrations. If you have used (but still serviceable) soccer shoes or shin guards that you no longer need, please donate them. If you need equipment, come see if we have what you need. There is no cost to receive gear and a donation is not a requirement.
